Do you want to collaborate with ghost companies?
We do not intend to present you with a list of ghost companies, but we can suggest some clues that, when combined, should give you an idea.
Identification clues: (with a certain degree of probability that you will estimate)
- companies that are not registered on this site and cannot be found in official sources;
- inactive companies (which have not submitted their balance sheets in recent years);
- companies that are headquartered in the same apartment without having common associates/shareholders;
- companies with litigation in commercial, criminal cases, etc. (information accessible to members);
- companies that are listed as deregistered, legally dissolved or with interruption of activity;
- companies whose associates/shareholders have experience with bankruptcy (related companies);
Other clues:
-
the number of companies headquartered in the same location.
Fictitious example: in a villa there are over 30 companies, some of them headquartered in the basement, a basement that does not physically exist. -
companies that want their official and contact details not to be available to the public.
Fictitious example: the administrator or sole shareholder is also a public official (or with criminal prosecution files, tax evasion, etc.) -
companies whose website does not display contact and identification information according to the legislation.
They frequently use phrases like „Copyright www.numesite.ro”, „echipa www.numesite.ro”, substituting the company name with the website name.
Not all companies that fit one or more of the above criteria are phantom companies, but working with them requires increased attention on your part.
We recommend:
- carefully selecting those you want to approach and do business/partnerships with and not trusting too much in an ad or advertisement; look for references;
- when signing a contract, request proof of the right to hire the contracting company (there are numerous administrators/directors with expired mandates and/or with restricted rights);
- if you are interested in distributing advertising or marketing material, you probably don't want to go to shell companies or soon-to-be-dissolved companies.;
To be able to address a quality target, excluding ghost companies, use Selection criteria in List of Companies in Romania.
Have you suffered losses due to shell companies?
ListaFirme recommends that you contact companies specialized in their recovery.

CAREFUL!!
Some companies in Romania are established with the deliberate purpose of deceiving customers/partners, working in the following ways:
- the achievement of a large number of contracts, of small value (usually under 5,000 euros);
- the company collects the money and does not deliver the goods/services according to the contract or does not make the payments;
- upon completion of the fraud plan, the company (with debts) is sold either to individuals abroad or to specialists in acquiring companies with debts;
- the old and new associates/shareholders are either nowhere to be found or will decline responsibility;
- the chance of recovering your money is almost zero, the legislation does not help you.
Some debt collectors — they also scam you:
- receive reports from you regarding the amounts to be recovered and conclude a contract for their recovery;
- based on the reported debts, the collector puts pressure on the debtor to sell the company with debts (if the company was not established specifically for this purpose);
- the debt collector or one of its satellite companies buys the company with debts;
- debt recovery processes are lost by the debt collector intentionally (they forget to file the complete file or make essential omissions);
- now you have to recover the money from the collector... good luck...!!!
